New Beginning 2020: Education Events on Your Calendar

We asked, you answered, and we listened: DallasHR education events are changing. Beginning in May, our event lengths and options will be different, giving members more flexibility and more of what they want. Here is what you need to know.

More event options

Over the last few months, we asked you for input in surveys and face-to-face meetings. Members requested more flexibility in event formats.

To meet the needs and changing demographics of our members, DallasHR will be offering four different event options:

  • Half-day morning sessions
  • Half-day afternoon sessions
  • Lunch-only sessions
  • Full-day sessions

These new options offer more flexibility and variety than our previous approach, which was full-day or lunch-only.

Changing strategic focus

As HR evolves along with business, HR professionals are increasingly being called upon as strategic leaders and decision-makers. To support our members’ development, we will be offering more events and content focused on HR strategy and strategic techniques.

In response to your input, we are also planning to deliver additional education geared toward senior HR professionals.

More time to mingle

While members may like our action-packed event agendas, many of you feel busy days leave little time to network at lunch. Going forward, we will build in an additional hour for social connection and networking at the end of Education Events held in Dallas.

CE hours and recertification

With our event format changes, members will now have the opportunity to earn continuing education hours in increments of:

  • 5 hours or 1 hour at Education Events in Dallas
  • 3 hours or 1 hour at Education Events in Collin County

Annual recertification will now require 31 hours of continuing education, up from 25 hours.

Coronavirus schedule changes

Our event calendar has been planned through the end of 2020. Of course, the coronavirus pandemic is creating uncertainty with events of all kinds. If continuing or new restrictions dictate, we can shift in-person events to a webinar format most of the time. Any event that cannot be held as a webinar will be postponed to a later date, not cancelled.
